About this tool
Unix time counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. Paste a timestamp in seconds or milliseconds to see it as an ISO date, a UTC string, your local time and a relative phrase like '3 days ago', or pick a date to get its timestamp. The live clock at the top shows the current epoch time.
How to use it
- Paste a timestamp, or click 'Use now'.
- Read the date in ISO, UTC and local formats.
- To go the other way, pick a date and time and copy the timestamp.
Frequently asked questions
How does it tell seconds from milliseconds?
Values with 11 or more digits (about 1e11 and above) are treated as milliseconds. Smaller values are seconds.
What is the Year 2038 problem?
Systems that store Unix time in a signed 32-bit integer overflow on 19 January 2038. Modern 64-bit systems are unaffected.
Which time zone is used for date to timestamp?
Your device's local time zone. The timestamp itself is always UTC-based.
